In June 2009, Kathleen Myers became the President of Discovery. The professions
she has chosen during her life exemplify her dedication to others.
She has a varied and unique professional background, which includes fourteen
years as a lay professional for the Episcopal Church. During that time she
served as a Director of Religious Education for three large parishes, a site
supervisor for five Seminarians, a co-founder and writer for a Diocesan School
of Lay Ministry, a seminar and retreat leader, and an educational and planning
consultant to churches of various denominations. For five years, she acted as
President of a national software corporation. During these years, she was
responsible for overseeing the development and sales of the software, as well as
managing corporate affairs. More recently, she and her husband Terry co-owned and
managed several retail stores in Texas. Currently, with Terry she co-owns
a working cattle ranch.
For over 40 years, Kathleen has served on the Board of Directors of numerous
churches, hospitals, philanthropic organizations, and educational facilities
across the country. She has previously written extensively in the areas of
religious education, liturgy, lay ministry, children literature and animal husbandry. Kathleen was recognized and received numerous awards for her service to her
community.
Kathleen brings her unique professional background in education, finance,
writing, organization, planning, marketing and leadership to those who attend
Discovery. She believes strongly, " All of us have the ability to become more
than we are--nothing is impossible. All of us have an opportunity to find the
joy and peace in our lives that we each deserve."
Because of her beliefs and commitment to others and the great value she places in Discovery, she assumed the leadership of Discovery as a volunteer, accepting no salary or stipend.
Kathleen is married and has six children and nine grand-children.
